What inspired the founding of your law firm, and what was its original mission? Dexter Odin and David Feldman left the Fairfax County Attorneys office in 1968 to enter into private practice. Over the next few years, they established themselves in real estate, zoning, personal injury, wills and general litigation. In 1973, Jimmy Pittleman left his role as an IRS revenue agent to lead the firm’s Corporate, Tax and Finance practice, and in 1976, the firm officially became Odin Feldman & Pittleman. Their model – to empower each practicing attorney to build a practice powered by passion and interest – remains a key tenet at OFP. Our clients benefit from effective, creative counsel delivered with integrity, responsiveness, and personal attention. Today, we continue to build lasting relationships through thoughtful counsel, practical solutions, and a commitment to excellence. What were the most significant milestones or turning points in the firm’s 25+ years in business? Our ability to “stick to our knitting” – to understand our role and value and to remain true to ourselves – has been a key component in OFP’s longevity and evolution. As opportunities and conditions allow, we’ve expanded our practice areas to meet our clients’ needs more completely. We’ve grown our team of talented attorneys thoughtfully and strategically, garnering recognition for both legal excellence and community impact. Key turning points also came during times of change, thereby strengthening our resilience and reaffirming our commitment to client service and innovation. Each step has shaped OFP into the firm we are today.  How have your core values and vision influenced the way your firm operates? Our core values—integrity, commitment to the ethical practice of law, and client-centered service—shape everything we do at OFP. They guide how we build relationships, approach legal challenges, and support our team. Our vision of delivering exceptional, creative legal counsel with personal attention ensures we stay focused on what matters most to our clients, while fostering a culture of trust and collaboration within the firm.  How has your firm adapted to changes in the profession or economic challenges over the years? OFP has adapted by remembering who we are and the mission our founders embodied. We've embraced technology to improve efficiency and client service and remained focused on strategic growth. During economic challenges, we've prioritized clear communication, thoughtful planning, and maintaining the high standards our clients expect. Flexibility and a commitment to our core values have helped us navigate change without losing sight of who we are.  What’s unique about your workplace culture that has contributed to your longevity? Ensuring a collegial workplace was among the core values that Dexter, David and Jimmy instilled in the attorneys who joined the practice in those early years. This is likely the reason that many of our attorneys have worked at OFP a majority, if not all, of their careers. Associates work on meaningful cases, gaining a lot of experience early in their careers. And we encourage everyone who works at OFP to find their place and to share their experiences because that’s what makes this such an amazing place to work. What role does community engagement or corporate social responsibility play in your firm? Whether through pro bono work, volunteering, or supporting local initiatives, we believe it is our responsibility to use our skills and resources to make a positive impact beyond the courtroom. Founder Jimmy Pittleman was instrumental in founding the Fairfax Law Foundation, the charitable arm of the Fairfax Bar Association. One of our shareholders is a founding board member of HomeAid Northern Virginia–a charitable arm of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association that partners with builders and developers to provide for the construction and renovation of shelters for the transitionally homeless. Others engage in pro bono work. And our firm actively supports the boards and organizations to which our attorneys dedicate their time and resources. What are the key factors that have contributed to your firm’s ability to stay competitive? We believe OFP has carved a specific niche among law firms in our region. Our ability to stay competitive stems from a combination of strong client relationships, a commitment to quality, and a willingness to evolve. Why I chose my practice area: I was drawn to real estate law because it’s where strategy, structure, and tangible results intersect. I’ve always enjoyed helping clients bring big ideas to life. Real estate law allows me to combine creative problem-solving with long-term impact, and that’s incredibly rewarding.

Most memorable case: Securing the property rights needed to extend the Silver Line to Dulles Airport. It was a once-in-a-career opportunity to help deliver a transformational infrastructure project for our region.

What makes me a leader in my field: With more than three decades of experience, I bring deep legal insight and practical judgment to every project.

Bar involvement/leadership roles: I served on the Board of Zoning Appeals for the Town of Vienna, Virginia, and was a founding board member of HomeAid Northern Virginia.
