Matt Kapuscinski is a shareholder and a member of the Litigation practice group. He represents individuals and businesses in complex civil litigation, including commercial, contract, labor and employment, construction, landlord-tenant, and trust and estate disputes, and misdemeanor and felony criminal and traffic cases. Matt regularly appears in local state and federal courts in Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Matt takes the time to understand his client’s unique needs and build a personal relationship based on mutual trust. He works with clients to define their priorities, set realistic goals, and develop a strategy that minimizes risks, protects the client’s interests, and achieves objectives. He strives to clearly explain his recommendations and suggested course of action. Matt believes that hard work, preparation, and identification of key legal issues and themes are necessary to develop a winning litigation strategy.
Prior to joining the firm, Matt worked as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Fairfax County for four years prosecuting felony and misdemeanor cases, including murder, manslaughter, rape, sexual assault, domestic violence, robbery, drug possession and distribution, firearm, financial fraud, theft, and traffic offenses in the General District, Juvenile and Domestic Relations, and Fairfax County Circuit Courts. He worked in the courtroom each day and served as lead counsel in over 15 jury trials and in hundreds of bench trials during his tenure as a prosecutor.
Matt lives with his wife and two daughters in Burke, Virginia. Beyond the courtroom, he enjoys playing basketball and watching live music and stand-up comedy.
