Jan. 6, 2017 – Odin, Feldman & Pittleman, P.C. is pleased to announce the firm has elevated Lauren Friend McKelvey to shareholder. Lauren is a member of Odin, Feldman & Pittleman’s Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights, Litigation, and Technology and Intellectual Property practice groups.
An experienced litigator, Lauren frequently litigates bankruptcy and business disputes in state and federal court, with extensive experience in the Eastern District of Virginia’s “Rocket Docket.”
Lauren also represents clients in transactional matters, with a focus in two particular areas: distressed transactions and technology contracts. In the distressed arena, Lauren advises businesses and lenders with respect to loan agreements, refinancing, workout and forbearance agreements, mergers and acquisitions, foreclosures, bankruptcy asset sales, and contract and licensing issues. As a member of the firm’s Technology and Intellectual Property practice groups, Lauren negotiates technology contracts and advises clients on the acquisition, protection, and licensing of intellectual property assets.
Lauren focuses her practice in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area representing a variety of clients including Fortune 500 companies, banks, private lenders and equity funds, insurance companies, and local businesses.
Lauren has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Virginia and Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers and the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC). Lauren graduated first in her class at Sweet Briar College and earned a Master of Arts from Georgetown University’s Graduate School of Foreign Service before receiving her law degree from George Mason University School of Law where she graduated magna cum laude and was Symposium Editor of the George Mason Law Review.
