OFP Shareholder Sara Mariska helped achieve an important first in Fairfax County. As the county’s population ages, the need for affordable senior housing is among the many challenges facing the region. Sara obtained zoning approval from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to enable First Christian Church of Falls Church and Wesley Housing Development Corp. to create 95 apartment units for seniors. The units will be constructed on a portion of the church’s property and will house seniors who earn roughly 50 percent to 60 percent of the region’s median income.

Wesley Housing will also construct a new home for the Culmore Clinic, which provides low or no-cost healthcare services to those in the Baileys Crossroads and Seven Corners area.
