Mr. Oliveira is a principal of the firm and a member of the Technology & Intellectual Property; Corporate, Securities, Tax & Finance and Government Contract Law practice groups. He represents individuals, private companies and publicly held companies in a wide range of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, joint ventures, franchising, international and domestic marketing and distribution agreements. He counsels clients in all aspects of corporate governance, employment and compensation matters, and asset management in a role much like that of a corporate general counsel.
Mr. Oliveira focuses his practice on the representation of technology companies and institutions that need assistance with highly regulated industries including franchise operations, hospitality services and alcoholic beverage control. He also serves a broad spectrum of clients with regard to intellectual property matters.
Mr. Oliveira represents large and closely held enterprises doing business with the US government and its agencies. He counsels and represents these clients regarding contracting and work under government contracts and grants including with regard to maintaining and securing rights in intellectual property (patents, copyrights, technical data, and software) while performing under these contracts and grants.
In 2006, 2008 and 2009, Mr. Oliveira was named one of Virginia’s Legal Elite for Intellectual Property by Virginia Business magazine.
