Dexter Odin, a founding member of the firm, has had a lengthy and varied practice. His experience includes trial practice, land use, municipal law, commercial and criminal litigation.
His federal trial practice has included cases arising under treaty and international law and the representation of the Country of Sudan in the United States District Court of the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and the United States 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. Over the span of 45 years he has tried criminal cases, cases involving most every form of business organizations and controversies ranging from trademarks, federal tax issues, business fraud to a myriad of contract, tort and entity and officer controversies.
Mr. Odin has been the County Attorney Fairfax County, Chief Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for the County of Fairfax, the City of Falls Church and the Towns of Herndon and Clifton, counsel for several local governments in Northern Virginia and three banking institutions. In addition, he has represented several state authorities, including the State Air Port Authority, the State Arena Authority and the regional Upper Occoquan Sewage Treatment Authority. He was appointed by the Supreme Court of Virginia to represent judges of the Commonwealth, state and local officials and twice as special Commonwealth Attorney for Fairfax County. He was appointed by the Supreme Court of Virginia as defense counsel in four original writ cases tried before that court and was formerly a Commissioner in Chancery for the Nineteenth Circuit of Virginia.
Mr. Odin is listed in the 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Best Lawyers in America list, was designated as a Virginia Super Lawyer in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010, and as a Washington, D.C. Super Lawyer in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
