|  Bruce M. Blanchard
Bruce Blanchard is a principal with the firm's Litigation practice group. As a trial lawyer, he has spent the majority of his 24 years trying a broad range of complex civil and criminal cases. Mr. Blanchard serves both corporate and individual clients, and handles matters in the state and federal courts. Mr. Blanchard's clients include municipal governments, international trade corporations, national and local business enterprises, professional partnerships and joint ventures, and individuals. In his civil litigation practice, Mr. Blanchard has tried commercial, contract and construction disputes, copyright and trademark infringement cases, and labor and employment claims. He has also represented both plaintiffs and defendants in product liability litigation, and in serious bodily injury and wrongful death cases. In his criminal litigation practice, Mr. Blanchard routinely defends individuals and corporations on serious felony offenses and federal white collar crimes. Having served as a former prosecutor and as a criminal defense attorney, he has the knowledge and experience to also assist corporate clients with internal and external investigations involving allegations of embezzlement or corporate wrongdoing. Mr. Blanchard has received an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell for his legal ability and general ethical standards, and was listed among Virginia's Legal Elite in 2005, 2006 and 2008 according to Virginia Business magazine. His inclusion on this list means that he is among those lawyers recognized by his peers as the best in Virginia. - Selected to represent the fastest growing county in the United States in a complex land use litigation case.
- Represented a corporate client in a criminal investigation of an employee leading to the successful recovery of more than $900,000 in embezzled funds.
- Successfully defended a telecommunications company in litigation resulting from a failed merger against a claim for more than $130 million in damages.
- Testified as an expert witness on behalf of a national insurance company in a dispute regarding a litigation attorney’s fees.
- Obtained a jury verdict in excess of 1.2 million dollars for a family in a toxic tort case.
