Stephen C. Shannon, Shareholder

Steve Shannon believes the key to being an effective litigator is to be thoroughly prepared and make the complex seem simple. He has the foresight to properly evaluate a case and to provide his clients with realistic strategies to reach their goals through litigation. Steve’s practice focuses on civil litigation, criminal litigation, and administrative law. He regularly appears in federal and state courts throughout Virginia and has handled over 1,000 cases during his legal career.

Steve’s civil litigation practice focuses on representing companies and individuals in commercial disputes involving contracts, business dissolutions, real estate, shareholder disputes, and enforcing employment obligations such as non-competition and non-solicitation agreements.

As a former state prosecutor, Steve is skilled in defending criminal prosecutions from the pre-indictment stage through trial. He is an experienced negotiator who counsels corporate officers and directors proactively to avoid potential litigation. Steve’s practice includes complex white collar litigation on matters involving the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as charges arising in Virginia’s circuit and general district courts.

Steve teaches as an adjunct faculty member at George Mason University School of Law. From 2004-2010, Steve served in the Virginia General Assembly. In 2009, he was a candidate for Attorney General of Virginia. He has been recognized by his peers as one of Virginia’s “Legal Elite” for six years by Virginia Business magazine.
